Some cases of Mud Fever are associated with swelling and lameness, particularly when there is an element of photosensitivity. This tonic can be used along with our Mud and Rain product or our Sol Plus product to relieve mild discomfort and boost the horse's immune response while being treated for Mud Fever or Rain Scald or sun damage.

Safe for all life stages but caution should be used for lactating mares (and other mammals) as the tonic may boost milk production which could lead to engorgement.

Pump Bottles
A dose consists of 2 pumps of remedy onto the tongue, gums or lips. Can also be given on a piece of food. Most horses love the sweet taste but if your horse is nervous about being dosed, you can put the dose on your finger and dab it on their lips or gums. They do not need to swallow the dose, it just has to come into contact with their tongue or gums.
Dose until symptoms are gone, then reduce dosing to once a week to maintain.

Jerry Cans
Water troughs – tip one capful (25ml) or 1 pump into the water trough every second day.
Feed – tip ½ capful (12ml), or ½ pump, on to feed twice daily.
Dose until symptoms are gone, then reduce dosing to once a week to maintain.

Mud Fever, Rain Scald treatment

Having moved from a dry climate to a wet and sometimes humid climate, I was struggling with rain scald and other skin issues. I knew there would be adjustments for my horses, however the amount of washing, treating and care I gave my horses, my mare in particular, the skin issues were not resolving. Within one week of commencing with this product, all issues are now resolved.

There is no need to wash or apply any creams or lotion when using this product. Horses now get the maintenance dose once a week. They have a fantastic shelter that they utilise and they are totally rug free 24/7 as I like to keep my horse in as natural an environment as possible. Brilliant product. Thank you Hippo Health, both for your products and for your prompt replies to any question that arises.
