Photosensitivity Support is professionally formulated to support a normal immune response to both primary and secondary photosensitivity in horses and livestock in conjunction with veterinary management.

Photosensitisation is a condition where the skin becomes abnormally sensitive to sunlight due to the presence of compounds in the bloodstream which are then activated by UV light, causing damage to the skin that looks like sunburn, often with ulceration and the build up of fluid. The affected areas are usually where there is less pigment or less hair to block the UV rays, so muzzles, eyelids and tips of ears are commonly affected.

Photosensitivity Plus is given twice daily when symptoms are present and then once the skin looks healthy, reducing the doses until the least number of doses to maintain normal healthy skin is found, this may be once a day or once a week depending on several factors such as the ability to provide protection from sunlight, the overall health of the horse/livestock and the grazing conditions.

You can also buy a Photosensitivity Kit that consist of Photosensitivity Support, Liver Plus and Puffiness Plus for acute flare ups and continuous maintenance.

Pump Bottles
A dose consists of 2 pumps of remedy onto the tongue, gums or lips. Can also be given on a piece of food. Most horses love the sweet taste but if your horse is nervous about being dosed, you can put the dose on your finger and dab it on their lips or gums. They do not need to swallow the dose, it just has to come into contact with their tongue or gums.
Dose twice daily into the mouth. Suitable for long term dosing.

Jerry Cans
Water troughs – tip one capful (25ml) or 1 pump into the water trough every second day.
Feed – tip ½ capful (12ml), or ½ pump, on to feed twice daily.
Dose until symptoms are gone, then reduce dosing to once a week to maintain.

This remedy can be continued long term.

I was desperate

In March last year I was battling photosensitivity/mud fever on my mares white socks. The vet had been out twice as the swelling was bad! We did bloods and tried antibiotics but the sores kept getting worse. I’d spent a fortune on lotions, sprays, creams, washes , vet bills and the sores kept getting bigger and multiplying. They were extremely painful. After weeks and weeks of washing, cleaning , applying every cream known to man my mare became reluctant to let me do much with her legs because of the pain. I had to get my husband to continuously feed her licorice while I delt with her. I googled and Facebook searched hoping to find something I hadn’t already tried and came across Hippo Health. I sent hippo health a message asking what blend i needed. I was skeptical but hopeful after reading reviews . My order arrived in Australia in pretty good time and I started both the photosensitivity support and the mud and rain the very day they arrived. Within 3 days I could see a change in the sores. Within 4 weeks they were almost healed!!!!! I wish I knew about this at the very start of the battle . We continued to used the blends once a day for the next 8 weeks before ceasing use.

Thankfully this year I had some on hand to start at the 1st sign it was reoccurring!

Photosensitivity Support

My horse suffers badly from bright pink skin as summer arrives, being a white spotty old boy he has suffered a few summers so I thought I would try this. Results were noting short of amazing, he went from being bright pink to a normal skin tone within 5days and is so much happier. Previous summers he refuses to be brushed but this summer he looks great and is so much happier.

Fabulous product, will be investing prior to summer again next season

Worked well for me

My mare had a bad reaction to grass pollens and ergots in the phalaris, which caused numerous sores on her muzzle, which seemed to be reactive to the bright sunshine. Started her on the photosensitivity support, and coupled with using a full face and nose mask, it all disappeared within a week. Started noticing improvement within 2 days actually. I've continued using it in her feed daily with no further issues. Worked well for me. Thanks Hippo Health.

Great product!

No sunburn on our boys nose (using photosensitivity support) and with regular trough dosing it keeps the scabs away from his white feet. Stoked with this product.
