    DOSING

    When to Dose

    Start dosing as soon as symptoms of sun damage appear. Can also be used as a preventative if dosing starts in the Spring, allowing a buildup of the normal immune response to sun exposure. This product is not an SPF rated sunblock. We recommend allowing 7-10 days for the remedy to take effect, and to continue observing sun sensitivity and protect your horse accordingly. Can be used long term but dosing isn’t usually needed during Winter.

    How to Dose

    Add to the water trough to dose multiple animals at the same time, or dose direct into the mouth, on a treat or piece of food. Most horses enjoy the sweet taste, but if your horse is nervous about being dosed, put the dose on your finger and dab it onto their lips or gums. The active ingredients start working as soon as the remedy contacts a mucous membrane.

    90ml Pump Bottle

    Give 2 pumps onto the tongue, gums or lips, or on a piece of food that wont absorb it, like carrot or apple twice daily during months when sunburn threatens. 

    90 ml Pump Bottle = 230 doses (2 pumps per dose)

    Bottles are food grade aluminium with a hygienic serum pump lid and over cap. Great for dosing on the go.

    Jerry Can Dosing

    Water trough - add 25ml's - one capful or 1 Jerry Can pump - of remedy into the water trough every second day. Dose volume is calculated for a 500-litre water trough, and can provide coverage for multiple animals.

    Feed – add 12ml's - ½ capful (12ml) or ½ pump - on to feed twice daily.

    Continue dosing twice daily during months when sunburn threatens.

    Our robust jerry cans are made from food grade plastic.

    1 litre = 80 days cover via water troughs (dosing every second day) or 40 days dosing on feed (twice daily). 
    The 5 litre jerry cans come with a free dispensing pump. The pump can also be bought separately for the smaller jerry cans.

    Blond horse saver

    Sol Plus has been a life saver for my blond horse. He hates wearing a mesh nose protector, and does everything in his power to get it off. He still wears a mesh sheet as the flies are annoying, but he has gone 2 summers now with me dosing the water trough with Sol Plus and no problems at all with his pink nose. I'm so pleased I found this product.

    Fantastic product

    I have been putting this product into the water troughs for about 2 weeks and the difference in pink noses, eyes and legs has been incredible. They have cleared up and they are not sensitive anymore.

    Pretty good product

    We have 2 horses with white on the head. One she have thin hair in her white blaze and second have pink nose. We put hippo sol in water but we find works better in their food.

    Red Nosed Bear

    So far so Good

    I have awful trouble getting on top of Bears red nose, not only having to deal with the sun issues but also the nose allergies as well

    Please note: he has sunscreen +wears a mask as well

    Sol Plus seems to be doing its stuff Guess it will show in time

    Protection

    I have a pinto pink nose etc I give her this twice a day….plus a top up of sunblock that I put on her nose, she has a thin mane and a lot of pink skin showing. I find this does help protect her from the harsh rays of the sun

    Super happy with this and I’ve used it for 3 years and will continue to to do so x

    An oral sunburn product may seem like an unusual concept - "how can something you swallow affect whether or not you get sunburnt?" - until you consider the fact that some antibiotic pills like tetracycline cause people to be more susceptible to sunburn. Our formulation has the reverse effect. 

    Exactly how the ingredients in Sol Plus achieve the results seen in our customer’s before and after pictures, is yet to be fully explained but current hypotheses focus on the mechanism creating a biochemical effect that causes the damaging UV rays to convert into infra-red rays, but research is still ongoing.

    Yes. Our remedies only contain homeopathic ingredients in a base of vegetable glycerine and purified water. As a result, they are not detectable by a swab, blood or urine test.

    Sol Plus isn’t an SPF rated sun block, it can take 7-10 days of regular dosing for this remedy to develop its full effect. We recommend continuing with the usual sun management regime for a week after starting Sol Plus so that the effect has time to kick in. Then try exposure in the sun for a couple of hours and check the following day for any sign of sunburn before assuming Sol Plus is doing its job.

    Dose every day (or every second day in the water trough) right through Summer to keep the effect going. You don't need to dose through winter.

    Sol Plus - Livestock is used successfully by farmers for their white faced cattle, and pink skinned livestock such as pigs. Pet owners use it on their white coated dogs and cats (have you ever tried putting sunscreen on a cat's ears!). It is a very simple and economical way to assist your animals with sun management. Simply add Sol Plus – Pets to their drinking water twice a week.

    This remedy won’t cause any adverse effects, but the ingredients will only activate when they come into contact with a mucous membrane such as the tongue, gums or lips.

    Adding 25mls (1oz) of remedy from our Jerry Can to a 500L (100-gallon) water trough every second day is enough to dose all of the animals that drink from that trough. With homeopathic remedies, the dilution ratio doesn’t have to be exact. The active ingredients disperse through the trough using the hydrogen particles in the water, so each animal gets a fresh dose every time they take a drink. Regardless of how much – or little – water is in the trough, the potency of the remedy will be the same. Adding our remedies to a water trough means a new dose is administered every time an animal takes a drink. The trough doesn't need to be emptied and refilled between doses as the sunlight destroys any residues after three days.
