This remedy can be continued long term. However reducing the frequency of dose when there are no symptoms present ensures the horse/livestock avoid desensitising to the remedy.Would this work for rain scald along the top line & over the rump areas?
Yes it does, even on bad cases. Yes it does help the itch. Active manuka honey, which is an amazing healer usually costs more (per horse) than our Mud and Rain and it also has to be applied on the legs. A big advantage of our product is that it is given orally on a treat or in the trough, it couldn't be easier, no need to scrape, scrub or apply creams. You need to leave the scabs alone and let the healing happen on its own. If you need help with heavy/nasty and moist scabbing then use Mud and Rain. If it is a severe case then twice daily dosing will be needed. You can give the 2 doses half an hour apart if you only visit the grazing once a day, once when you catch them and once when you turn them out. Healing time varies from 5-7 days for mild cases, 3 weeks for severe cases.

Like most people I suppose I was a bit skeptical about whether or not this would work but OMG it truly does! After approx 16 days of using this everyday, the scabs came away and there was new hair underneath...so impressed with mud and rain and would definitely recommend to everyone with a horse that has mud rash or rain scald. My horse is now on a maintenance dose twice a week.
I swear by this product for any kind of mud fever or bacterial skin condition!!
Our horse suffered open sores on his rear white socks, post mud fever for at least 8months. I tried so many things that most people would say usually works. I attended to him every day, washing, drying, picking scabs off and applying a variety of creams. The vet came and had an aggressive approach by suggesting me to pick off scabs even if it bleeds, wash dry and apply antibiotics. I was not willing to put him through this painful process yet. Thankfully a friend mentioned the mud and rain product by Hippo. It is a liquid that you squirt 3 mils on a treat and feed your horse twice a day or squirt straight on the tongue. I was able to squirt it on his tongue. He got really use to it. You don’t need to touch the sore at all. The product gets absorbed internally and I guess triggers the immune system to heal itself from the inside. I cannot tell you how happy I was not having to wash, pick, dry and apply everyday. It did take a month or so but I think this must have been a super stubborn bacteria. Now the area is just powdery and a bit hard and over time will restore fully I guess. So if you can get to your horse a couple of times a day and need a simple and effective result, I fully recommend this product. Initially I wasn’t expecting it to work. When it did work I now want to tell everyone !!!! I have never filled out a review but couldn’t resist !!
I tried everything. Everything! But my grey Fell pony would still end up with bloody legs from scratches... within one week of starting him on Hippo mud & Rain he was looking better. After two weeks, no bloody legs and scratches were gone. Wow!
