Hippo Health's ground breaking Scratches / Greasy Heel / Mud Fever & Rain Scald formulation heals from the inside out. No need to touch the legs, scrape off scabs or apply bandages and creams. Simply dose twice daily on a treat (horses love the sweet taste) and wait while the remedy does its work. Once healing is complete, the scabs fall off by themselves to reveal clear, healthy skin underneath. Once healed, you only need to dose at weekends to maintain.

How does it work? Our formulation supports the natural immune response of the horse (or livestock) to conditions caused by Dermatophilus congolensis bacteria i.e. scratches / mud fever / greasy heel / mud rash and rain scald / rain rot. By building up the immune system, you not only overcome the condition but you are left with a horse that has no ill effects from the treatment.

Safe, non-toxic ingredients

Made in New Zealand. 100% Natural and Non-toxic. Homeopathic Preparation.

Contains equal parts of: Graphites, Natrum muriaticum, Petrolatum - note this is in non-toxic homeopathic form, Phytolacca, Staphisagria, Sulphur
Base: Vegetable glycerine & purified water

Pump Bottles
A dose consists of 2 pumps of remedy, twice a day, onto the tongue, gums or lips.
Can also be given on a piece of food. Most horses love the sweet taste but if your horse is nervous about being dosed, you can put the dose on your finger and dab it on their lips or gums. They do not need to swallow the dose, it just has to come into contact with their tongue or gums.
Dose twice a day until symptoms are gone, then reduce dosing to once a week to maintain.

Jerry Cans
Water troughs – tip one capful (25ml) or 1 pump (25ml) into the water trough every second day.
Feed – tip ½ capful (12ml), or ½ pump (12ml), on to feed twice daily.
Once symptoms are gone, reduce dosing to once a week to maintain.

Remedies are dispensed either in a 90ml food grade aluminium bottle with a hygienic serum pump lid with over-cap or in food grade plastic jerry cans, sized 1 litre, 2 litres and 5 litres  The 5 litre jerry cans come with a free dispensing pump. The pump can also be bought separately for the smaller jerry cans.

90ml bottle = 230 doses

1 litre jerry can = 80 days continuous cover via water troughs (dosing every second day) or 40 days dosing on feed (twice daily). *Maintenance dosing is once a week so product will last a lot longer.

2 litre jerry can = 160 days continuous cover via water troughs (dosing every second day) or 80 days dosing on feed (twice daily). *Maintenance dosing is once a week so product will last a lot longer.

5 litre jerry can = 400 days continuous cover via water troughs (dosing every second day) or 200 days dosing on feed (twice daily). *Maintenance dosing is once a week so product will last a lot longer.

This remedy can be continued long term. However reducing the frequency of dose when there are no symptoms present ensures the horse/livestock avoid desensitising to the remedy.Would this work for rain scald along the top line & over the rump areas?

Yes it does, even on bad cases. Yes it does help the itch. Active manuka honey, which is an amazing healer usually costs more (per horse) than our Mud and Rain and it also has to be applied on the legs. A big advantage of our product is that it is given orally on a treat or in the trough, it couldn't be easier, no need to scrape, scrub or apply creams. You need to leave the scabs alone and let the healing happen on its own. If you need help with heavy/nasty and moist scabbing then use Mud and Rain. If it is a severe case then twice daily dosing will be needed. You can give the 2 doses half an hour apart if you only visit the grazing once a day, once when you catch them and once when you turn them out. Healing time varies from 5-7 days for mild cases, 3 weeks for severe cases.

I was desperate , we had tried everything

Posted on the photosensitivity support reviews too. I used both Mud & rain and Photosensitivity support.

In March last year I was battling photosensitivity/mud fever on my mare white socks. The vet had been out twice and did bloods / tried antibiotics but the sores kept getting worse. I’d spent a fortune on lotions, sprays, creams, washes , vet bills and the sores kept getting bigger and multiplying. They were extremely painful. After weeks and weeks of washing, cleaning , applying every cream known to man my mare became reluctant to let me do much with her legs because of the pain. I had to get my husband to continuously feed her licorice while I delt with her. I googled and Facebook searched hoping to find something I hadn’t already tried and came across Hippo Health. I sent hippo health a message asking what blend i needed. I was skeptical but hopeful after reading reviews . My order arrived in Australia in pretty good time and I started both the photosensitivity support and the mud and rain the very day they arrived. Within 3 days I could see a change in the sores. Within 4 weeks they were almost healed!!!!! I wish I knew about this at the very start of the battle . We continued to used the blends once a day for the next 8 weeks before ceasing use.

I don’t have after photos but they were beautiful clean normal legs !!!

Thankfully this year I had some on hand to start at the 1st sign it was reoccurring!

Rain scald GONE! :)

I had tried treating my TB's rain scald for several months with washes, powders and sprays. While it improved slightly, it always came back, and never cleared up completely. 2 weeks on HippoHealth Mud and Rain and you wouldn't even know he'd ever had rain scald at all!

Alpaca skin issues

It may be too early in the treatment process, but there are early signs that there has been a change in our female alpacas skin condition since we started using this product
